    Mufti : Muhammad Salih

A fatwa in English in which Sh. Muhammad Saleh Al-Munajjed (may Allah preserve him) answers the following question, "I have read the many translations in English of the Noble Quran, Surat Al-Mulk verses no. 16-17 in which Dr. Mohsen Khans says: Do you feel safe from the one who is OVER the heaven, in both these verses; however Yusuf Ali and Pickthal state IN the Heaven, and some of the Urdu translations say IN the heaven, I am a little confused because my faith is that Allah swt is above the heavens and his throne in a manner that fits his majesty, and he does descend to the first heaven during the 3rd part of the night. Also, there interpretation of istawa is fixed on the throne, M. Khans is rose over (in a manner that Suits my Lord). I would really appreciate it if you could explain this in detail, what does the verses really say and when was it revealed, I have read ibn Kathir there is not much detail for this verses there. Your website has been very helpful and I find it alhamdulilah very honest and frank, I have previously suffered from Waswasa, which I have recovered from, all praise be to Allah (swt), through your sites answers."

    Mufti : Muhammad Salih

A fatwa in English in which Sh. Muhammad Saleh Al-Munajjid answers the following question, "Firstly: I apologize for asking such a question, and so that there will be no room for doubt about my intention I will say that I bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, and I am completely content with Allah as my Lord, Islam as my religion and Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) as my Prophet. I am asking about the Sunnah, because there are many reports of a single hadith. For example, we may find in Sahih al-Bukhari a hadith that appears in a form different than that in which it appears in Sahih Muslim. Why isn’t the Sunnah like the Holy Qur’an? What is the difference between the Sunnah and the Holy Qur’an? Is the Sunnah part of the Wahy that was revealed to the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) or is it just his words and deeds? Is it one of the characteristics of Prophethood or what?"

Allah said about Yaqoob, "And he turned away from them and said, 'Oh, my sorrow over Joseph,' and his eyes became white from grief, for he was [of that] a suppressor. They said, 'By Allah, you will not cease remembering Joseph until you become fatally ill or become of those who perish.'
