A fatwa translated into English in which Sh. Muhammad Saleh Al-Munajjid (may Allah preserve him) answers the following question: I am living in Dubai and here a huge number of Shia are present around us they always say that doing mourning on 9th and 10th Muhaaram is right and this is the proof that we love Hazrat Husain and Hazrat Yaqoob. Allah said about Yaqoob, "And he turned away from them and said, 'Oh, my sorrow over Joseph,' and his eyes became white from grief, for he was [of that] a suppressor. They said, 'By Allah, you will not cease remembering Joseph until you become fatally ill or become of those who perish.' He said, 'I only complain of my suffering and my grief to Allah, and I know from Allah that which you do not know.'" Please tell me the answer as soon as possible that beating chest is right or wrong?

Shaikh Bin Baz answer this question: What is the ruling on the Husseiniyahs of the Raafidis and the things that are done there such as slapping and scratching the cheeks, wailing, rending one’s garments and beating oneself, sometimes with chains, whilst calling upon the dead and the noble Ahl al-Bayt (members of the Prophet’s household) for help?.

A fatwa in English in which Sh. Muhammad Saleh Al-Munajjed (may Allah preserve him) answers the following question, “I am asking about the topic of fasting and breaking the fast. I was speaking to my neighbors who follow the Shi’i madhhab, and they recited to me a verse of Quran which says that fasting is from the time of the white thread until night, and it is not until sunset only. This is what they said to me. I hope that you can advise me, may Allah reward you with the best of rewards.”
