Usury

A fatwa in English in which Sh. Muhammad Saleh Al-Munajjed answers the following question, "What is the definition of riba? If we take into account the fact that in most countries the economy is based on the principle of the circulation of capital, which includes lending, is accepting payment in that particular currency for any work regarded as an action that supports the riba-based system? Is using the currency of a state that is based on riba regarded as contributing to the usurious economy? Undoubtedly the employee in a riba-based bank plays a part in riba-based transactions one way or another, even if he is a security guard for the bank. Could you offer him a better job if you have anything to offer?"

A fatwa translated into English in which Sh. Muhammad Saleh Al-Munajjed answers the following question, "My parents have taken out a mortgage for a house sometime ago, they are currently paying interest on this loan. But now they have decided to go on Hajj, they still have 15 years left on the loan. Is it permissible for them to go on Hajj even though they owe money? Or will they have to wait 15 years first? Can they in the meantime do Umrah if it is not permissible to do Hajj?"

A fatwa in English in which Sh. Muhammad Saleh Al-Munajjed (may Allah preserve him) answers the following question, "I am intending to propose marriage to a girl, but I found out that her father puts his money in the bank and he is going to prepare her trousseau using this money. Will this trousseau and furniture be halaal or haram?"

A fatwa in English in which Sh. Muhammad Saleh Al-Munajjed (may Allah preserve him) answers the following question, "There is a businessman who was offered money by a man in order to do business for him, but the one who offered this money deals with bribes and usury. Is there any sin on this businessman?"
