Fatāwa (Fatwas)

A fatwa in English in which Sh. Muhammad Saleh Al-Munajjed (may Allah preserve him) answers the following question, “A man wanted to fast six days of Shawwal, and on one day he intended to fast but he broke his fast with no excuse, and he did not complete his fast. Does he have to make up this day after fasting six days of Shawwal, so then the number of days that he fasted will be seven, or should he just fast six days of Shawwal?”

A fatwa in English in which Sh. Muhammad Saleh Al-Munajjed (may Allah preserve him) answers the following question, “Is it permissible for me to offer Eid prayer at home because I cannot go to the mosque because of my health?”

A fatwa in English in which Sh. Muhammad Saleh Al-Munajjed (may Allah preserve him) answers the following question, “We are members of a North African group living in Barcelona. How can we work out how much zakat al-fitr is?”

A fatwa in English in which Sh. Muhammad Saleh Al-Munajjed (may Allah preserve him) answers the following question, “I would like to know the guidance of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) regarding Eid prayers.”

A fatwa in English in which Sh. Muhammad Saleh Al-Munajjed (may Allah preserve him) answers the following question, “I am a woman living in a foreign country. I am married and I have 7children. Every year I send zakah al-fitrah to my mother who lives in Morocco, and I am the one who is responsible for her maintenance. Is it permissible for me to give her this zakah or not?”

A fatwa in English in which Sh. Muhammad Saleh Al-Munajjed (may Allah preserve him) answers the following question, “Is the time for paying zakat al-fitr from after the prayer until the end of that day?”

A fatwa in English in which Sh. Muhammad Saleh Al-Munajjed (may Allah preserve him) answers the following question, “If I stay in a city for a temporary period whilst travelling, is it better to offer the prayers in shortened form in my house or to offer them in complete form in congregation in the mosque?”

A fatwa in English in which Sh. Muhammad Saleh Al-Munajjed (may Allah preserve him) answers the following question, “We broke our fast when the neighborhood muazzin gave the adhan, and seven minutes later we heard another muazzin. After asking our local muazzin we found out that he had given the adhan by mistake, thinking that the time had started. What should the people of our neighborhood do?”

A fatwa in English in which Sh. Muhammad Saleh Al-Munajjed (may Allah preserve him) answers the following question, “I am asking about the topic of fasting and breaking the fast. I was speaking to my neighbors who follow the Shi’i madhhab, and they recited to me a verse of Quran which says that fasting is from the time of the white thread until night, and it is not until sunset only. This is what they said to me. I hope that you can advise me, may Allah reward you with the best of rewards.”

A fatwa in English in which Sh. Muhammad Saleh Al-Munajjed (may Allah preserve him) answers the following question, “A man was travelling and fasting in Ramadan, and he intended to break his fast, then he could not find anything with which to break his fast, then he changed his mind and completed the fast until Maghrib. Is his fast valid?”

A fatwa in English in which Sh. Muhammad Saleh Al-Munajjed (may Allah preserve him) answers the following question, “There is a woman who is offering expiation for sin by fasting for two consecutive months. She is asking about the days when she cannot fast because of her period. Does she have to make up those days after the two months are over, or what?”

A fatwa in English in which Sh. Muhammad Saleh Al-Munajjed (may Allah preserve him) answers the following question, “What is the sickness which permits a fasting person to break his fast in Ramadan? Is it permissible to break the fast for any sickness even if it is minor?”

A fatwa in English in which Sh. Muhammad Saleh Al-Munajjed (may Allah preserve him) answers the following question, “I read in question no. 1584 that in order to prove that the new moon of Ramadan has been sighted, it is sufficient for one trustworthy person of good character to see it. The question is: who is that person of good character?”

A fatwa in English in which Sh. Muhammad Saleh Al-Munajjed (may Allah preserve him) answers the following question, "One year I did not fast the days when I had my monthly period, and I have not been able to fast them until now. Many years have gone by and I want to make up the fasts that I owe, but I do not know how many days I have to make up. What should I do?"

A fatwa in English in which Sh. Muhammad Saleh Al-Munajjed (may Allah preserve him) answers the following question, “How can the qiblah be determined by means of the sun?”

A fatwa in English shows the Islamic perspective on celebrating this occasion and confirms that there is no Islamic evidence that refers to its real date. Afterwards, it mentions some Quranic verses and Prophetic hadiths which confirm that Allah, the Almighty, perfected and completed Islam before the Prophet’s death so it is not allowed for anyone to add or delete something from Islam after his death. Finally, it mentions some texts which warn against heresies.

A fatwa in English in which Sh. Muhammad Saleh Al-Munajjed (may Allah preserve him) answers the following question, “Is it forbidden for Muslims to declare the engagement? If yes, who are the people supposed to know about the engagement? Are close friends allowed to know about it?”

A fatwa in English in which Sh. Muhammad Saleh Al-Munajjed (may Allah preserve him) answers the following question, “I hope that you can provide me with important and comprehensive information about Islamic tourism, what is tourism in Islam, what are the guidelines on tourism in Islam, how we may develop Islamic tourism, how we can develop a center for Islamic tourism, or what would constitute Islamic tourism projects?”
