    Mufti : Muhammad Salih

A fatwa in English in which Sh. Muhammad Saleh Al-Munajjed answers the following question, "Is it mandatory for a pregnant woman to observe fasting in Ramadan and Ashoora? I advised my wife not to fast during the last Ramadan and she was not fasting because she was pregnant. She was anaemic when she was pregnant. She had miscarried by end of Ramadan when she was 12 weeks pregnant. What is the ruling about her missed fasting during Ramadan? Does she have to complete them before next Ramadan? Can she fast normally when she finds that she is pregnant? She always insists on fasting during pregnancy. Any medical proof will also help that the baby won't be harmed by fasting during pregnancy."

A fatwa translated into English in which Sh. Muhammad Saleh Al-Munajjed answers the following question, "My sister-in-law will be getting married soon. She is worried about the type of boy she can get married to. To be specific, she has asked me whether it is valid to get married to a person who is a strong supporter of the Mawlid or Milad-un-Nabi practice. I do understand that this practice itself is a heresy in Islam. However, the difficulty is whether one can get married to such people who practice Mawlid. In New XXX, the people involved in this practice do this as an act of worship. People would be invited to attend this ceremony where various hadiths are read, songs are sung and dua is made. People actually stand and sing! I hope this is the practice the fatwaa on your site refers to. The question is whether one can marry those who do this practice. The more difficult question and the one I am afraid to ask is whether these people are Muslims. Sheikh, you do not have to answer the second one if it is not wise to?"

A fatwa translated into English in which Sh. Muhammad Saleh Al-Munajjed answers the following question, "My parents and two brothers are unbelievers (they have no religion) and they insist on making a big deal on my birthday by phoning me, e-mailing birthday messages, and saying 'happy birthday' even though I told them many times before that I do not celebrate my birthday and that it is just another day like the other days. I am the only Muslim in my family, married to a Muslim, and live in another province in Canada away from them so they are not close to me. This year I unplugged the phone on that day so I could avoid the issue. What should I do?"
